Well, it is less than half full.. I'll fill her up this friday to see if that changes... But I fail to see why this has anything to do with revs.

Be worth doing a fuel pressure tests on the car to check the accumulator capacitance.

Also, do a timing advance check to make sure the advance curve is correct. The values of mechanical advance are in the workshop manual. You will get a mis-fire / detonation effect if the spring has fallen off the primary advance weight. I diagnosed this on a D years ago.

Good luck.

Also, the pressure buildup from the slight leak in the head gaskets may have something to do with it. Pressure buildup in the coolant was again too much. After the drive, I went back into the garage after 30minutes of cooldown and the floor was dry. However, when i checked a day layer, about 10cl of coolant was dumped again out of the overflow hose (which proves my new hoses are tight, fortunately). I took of the cap of the coolant bottle, and it still 'hissed' from the pressure release (after 3 days !!)

Oh dear. I hope the head gasket leak doesn't get worse.

It has been playing up for about 3 years now without getting any worse. Other that the mentioned hesitation, the car actually runs like a dream for most of the time. I just need to check the coolant levels after every drive.

As a side note, I just ordered stuff from Ed's to be able to perform an well overdue oil change this friday. The dipstick looks good, but I want some new oil in before it's too late. I hardly did 3000 miles since the last oil change, but it is 3 years ago now.

TT offered to do a head gasket change at the EuroTec premises, I still think that is job way out of my league.

Thanks!! I seriously have NO idea how much work it is.

To explain the coolant overflow, the car DID overheat about 6-8 years back, but you all know I had it stored for a very long time since then. We thought the problem was fixed then. But it happened so long ago it's all a blur to me and him what actually happened.

Just to be clear Rob .. you have confirmed it is your head gaskets that are at fault ?
