Well it is game over I think. You are all welcome to visit my sick Delorean this weekend. Thanks to everyone who helped try to get her on the road for Eurofest.

mnickels wrote:Fluid OK. Idling and in the warm region. I don't understand, I have no gears at all but the gearbox is lifting the oil ok??? It is like it isn't connected to the engine at all. No matter what gear it is in there is nothing. It starts in Park and Neutral, doesn't start in others, reverse lights are on in reverse but no movement. All I did was drive to end of driveway and reverse back up and nothing since.

Try doing the fluid as I said earlier.
The oil may have just been pumped into the torque converter and dropped the level to the point where it can't pump oil.

Have you jacked the rear of the car up so the wheels are off the floow to see if the rear wheels move when first is applied and engine running?

Hi Matt,

Did you get the gearbox sorted yet?

If you used gasket sealer on the cork gasket or the sump or both, your filter may be blocked by the excess sealent that is squeezed out. There may be enough to restrict the flow of fluid which would cause the box not to select the gears properly.

Drain the sump and either remove or clean the filter, refill with ATF and try again.

If you are going to clean the filter, take it apart by lifting the metal flap with a screw driver, clean out the mesh with petrol, then reassemble.

OK had another bite at the car this morning. Took off the sump and removed the filter.

Once I got it split it looked like the attached picture. Once it was all refitted I was able to drive the car up and down the driveway. Success. There is a shuddering noise though which is possibly the brakes binding a bit. Haven't moved it more than a few feet but at least it moves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now for a pint!

Not going to rush the car to Eurotec but I am sure you will all see it mobile soon.

If anyone knows where I can get the support bracket for my drivers side door trim (part 4 here http://www.delorean.com/store/c-317-8-7 ... -trim.aspx ) please let me know.

Great news, you reckon that the filter was clogged all this time causing the problem?
