Thanks Tony, let me know how much you need and if possible bring it to eurotec and one of the Irish boys can bring it back.

Im sure you know but there is a slight difference between a mighty auto one and the bog standard manual ;)

I didnt know that Mike, what is the difference?

Mine could be wrong then (due to auto-manual conversion). Having a nightmare with sticky throttle at the minute, infact its never been right - fed up fitting extra springs to the dam thing as the pedal gets too heavy so decided to try a replacement.

You will be ok that way round .. its the liitle plate on top that the cable on the autobox connects to that you dont need with it now being a manual

Is the spool etc worn ? It could just need adjusting ?

The spool returns fine without the cable attached.

The throttle cable to the pedal is newish and is not sticky at all.

Hook everythin up and it will not return to idle, sticks at 1500-2000rpm.

I think the return springs themselves on the spool are knackered as I've ctaken apart the assembly and cleaned it already.

I think I have the throttle rod set up properly but all tips appreciated.

With a heavy enough spring it will return but it ruins the drive somewhat.

Apart from the obvious strip it apart, clean it up, lubricate it and re-assemble, have you tried taking the spring of the throttle spool and winding another half to turn from it?

With the throttle spool rod disconnected from underneath, there should be enough spring pressure at the throttle plate to return fully back to the stop.

Aye its been stripped/cleaned, and the spool itself seems ok but once the throttle cable gets involved the trouble starts - but the throttle cable moves freely.

I also tried winding up the spring an extra turn but then it was too tight.

Maybe I need more adjustment on the linkage rod, but I am suspecting that the return springs are perhaps tired?

Is the cable itself new OEM or just a length of cable ?

Unless its a 'pre stretched' cable then it could stretch with use

Just a thought

If the car doesnt over rev with the rod / cable disconnected then it has to be one or the other pulling the throttle open at idle

I would disconnect everything and start a fresh, starting with the throttle stop bolt to ensure the plates are fully shut and then the microswitch bolt to make sure this is engaging

Then attach the rod and ensure its sitting 'central' to each ball joint .. you dont want it pushing or pulling the throttle open

Lastly the cable / spool . The spool should be on its stop at idle and also when the throttle pedal is all the way down hitting the WOT switch

Lubricate all the parts with WD and put some grease in the throttle rod 'cups'
