Must be mad

Postby Dan 6511 » Tue Apr 15, 2014 9:09 am

I think I must be mad and like to torture myself for some reason.... I have bought another Delorean! Its in the states and should be with me mid-may. Vin 6511... not much newer than my old car.

Its not been run for a few years but has been kept in a garage, hopefully won't take much to get it going.

I have also bought a running volvo 760 to nick the B28E engine/fueling from so if mine is knackered its not the end of the world.

I recon I will be needing a lot of parts soon, balljoints, bushes wheel bearings, brake pads etc.

Also it will need the interior sorting out. I might see if Lee Pattison can retrim the seats, binacle and steering wheel.

My shipping company are also bringing over another Delorean to the uk at the same time, a turbo'd one, vin 16648. I won't say the guys name on the public forum but guessing he will probably join the forum if he hasn't already?

Here are some pics! I'm expecting some abuse from TT and co now lol

What is it about these cars that they just get under your skin? Glad to see another one coming back!

Probably made on the same day as your old one Dan.

Looks nice and straight on the outside anyway.

Thanks everyone.

The previous owner was the 2nd owner from new, he bought it in the late 80s and hardly used it that much, and not at all since 2004. So fingers crossed its un-touched electrically etc. The fuse box photos certainly look good compared to some I've seen.

At least with the Volvo donor I can get rid of the frequency valve, lamda sensor, computer etc, so should give a lot less trouble.

Did you get it off ebay or via somewhere else, if I may ask?

Didn't take a lot of Googling ;) - Ebay. Last owner was "Jimi". Here is the engine bay:
