VIN 3695 - Dutch Rob's Car

I may need your help with this. My doors should unlock when the wire is grounded. The original module just simulates operating the manual switch (those contacts in your door pull to ground). Anyway, my module 'at rest' has both lock wires to ground. The lock operates by switching one of the two lines to 12v for a moment. I would need a solution to create 12v from gnd, but i'm not to keen on adding yet another relay. Perhaps i should just let it be, because i never drive with locked doors anyway.

Door cards all reinstalled, cleaned up the garage and tools. Also, refurbished the decals on the hazzard and light switches. Looking spiffy again. The modular mini-relay block i bought at autosparks.com doesn't fit to the other relay brackets so i'll be needing a different model. I will be using it to control the trunk release. Suggestions for matching relay sockets are welcome.

Ed's connector for the inertia switch arrived, It came with only two wires, so the 'unlock doors' problem is not relevant any more. i'll fit it tomorrow, together with the indicator signal from the keyless entry.

Another web order sent out, this time to RDAE.nl. Rick Donkers completely overhauled his website, now carrying more stuff, and even more wiring than before (124 color combinations for 1mm2, €2,40 per 5 meters). Cheaper for me too, because it is dutch, and that saves me a lot of P&P.

Another day, no progress. The mailman fucked up by trying to deliver stuff while i was out, and not returning on the time that he should have turned up. Needless to say i have written a short 'thank you note' to his employer. i don't care about the packages, but with that delivery was a batch of my medical food and i need that stuff this weekend.

I got a shitload of stuff in the mail today. A few delorean bits and bobs, and some electronics stuff. The biggest anticipation was the replacements for the clock connectors. yes they fit perfectly.

In a different package i received a few meters of wire in different colors and tracers, relay and fuse sockets and a collection of insulated spade plugs. So i started with lifting the console to run a wire to the trunk to feed my remote trunk release. I got tired from the job and finished up, but not before testing first. I just taped the wiring up for the test, so that'll need work later. But the main thing is that it works, yeah!

time for a picture. Here's the actuator installed for the trunk release. Wiring needs to be cleaned up, and i need to trim off the actuator rod. The lock had two springs installed but i noticed that was a bit too much for the actuator, so i took one off. now it works brilliantly.

Nice touch rob,

Are you also rigging up an emergency cable for the moment when the gods snigger at us, and your cable snaps and the battery's flat? :dmcdoors:

you see the backup cable in the pic, that'll go when it's all finished. no need for two backups. The 2nd spring has to go as well. For the wires i'll use proper crimp and connectors (it is twisted and taped right now) so it'll be pretty later on.

exactly my intention as well. Have got a spare actuator and was thinking of that. How did you mount the actuator on the fiberglass? What did you use to keep the screws tight?
