it's a big bill, but the car deserves/needs it.

Fortune is on my side... erm not.

Ed gave me a little update on the car yesterday. Yes all the stuff I asked for has been fixed now. Basically it is ready for pickup. But there are still a few things that should be sorted:

  • The spark leads are the wrong type. They apparently do not seal the plugs properly. These are the leads I bought at EuroTec 2010. Because of this, one of the spark plugs is rusted and the other ones are on their way.
  • Injector #1 is not good (top left). I remember that same one having been fixed/replaced sometime during the filming of the Wheeler Dealer episode. Because of the filming, we couldn't make any noise ergo we couldn't test the system on the rolling road that I paid for.
  • The biggie: TAB's are rusted stuck. Ed will need to remove the entire trailing arm and drill 'em out on a bench. The good bit is that the thing will have to come off so the brake lines need to be removed (I've got some new yellow ones laying about), the bad news is that it will cost me several hundred Euro's in labour.

It's not very dramatic, but they are things that I cannot do myself. I don't have the strength, the tools or the knowledge. Who remembers the 80's movie: "The Money Pit?"

Sad Rob signing off.

Putting all drama aside, Ed also told me he replaced the exhaust gaskets and studs (x24) , these were totally shot and even one of the gaskets was missing. Anybody who has heard my D knows that it was freaking loud. Ed says the car is as silent as a mouse now, and with the added sound isolation i did a few months back, it should be one hell of a difference.

I wonder if i'll recognize her when we meet again in a few weeks..

That should be bad for your starter Rob!
Not hearing it idle and with running motor you will have several tries to start her up... All you will get now are Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs!
Hehehe

I bet you will be proud of her when you get her from Ed.
