What I did was unplug the thermo switch and linked the 2 pins on the connector thinking it was just a switch. Then cranked the engine with the injector in a glass and no spray at all.

Looking on the diagram, am I right in thinking with the switch unplugged I just need to ground one of the pins, the one with the UB coloured wire....?

Assuming the injector then fires when the engine cranks it would seem I need a new thermo switch

Yes, it is NOT a switch.

Yes, disconnect the thermo time switch and link to earth the UB wire.

When you crank the engine the cold start injector should fire.

This test does not necessarily mean that the thermo time switch is not working. It only operates the cold start valve when the ambient temp is below a certain temperature. ONLY test thermo time switch with the engine cold. NOTE that if the cold start injector does operate with the thermo time switch in place, it will only operate the injector for about 3 to 7 seconds (I.e. to prevent flooding).

You could try some freezer spray on the switch, but I've not done this before, so this is just a suggestion.

Good luck, don't let the cold start valve cloud an issue of a poor start due to accumulator issues or the fuel pump relay not priming the fuel pump etc. ..

I have bypassed the thermo switch properly now and the injector fires perfectly and it starts really easily now :) So I deffo need a new thermo switch.

I also did some stripping down inside but will post pics up tomorrow.
