$£%#?¥£¥%#$
Anybody ever removed the water pump knows what those hieroglyphics stand for....
This time I covered the VOD so I don't have to collect the coolant from all the little wholes...
Image

And the coolant ran into a container in the front
Image

On opening the pump, the gasket was tightly glued still in the lips and came apart splitting in half.
Image

Looking closer I realized it was the gasket its self that failed. The slight leakage derived from a slight spot where the gasket probably had come apart. Note this was a brand new gasket....
Notice the wet area of the gasket and the rest is dry.
Image

On assembly I chose to just use gasket silicone that is special for coolant components.

Back on the engine with this the rascal...
Image

If that pump fails again.... I'll get a complete new engine before I think of removing it again.... :s
