I could always exchange the ballasts if it is that horrible. For the price, it is worth a shot!

I thought the current that runs through the switch itself is for the front and side marker lights, and rear tail lights. It's normally the bulb holders in these locations that have corroded, which causes resistance, which leads to heat and eventually causes the internals of the switch to melt.

You are correct indeed. Only the running lights (which include the rear lights) and dash lights are powered through the switch. And as these bulbs have all been changed to LED's i'm not worried any more.

I'm still wiring the Relay though, because startup of the HIDs consume a lot of power which I don't want running through my fuse box. I think.

First bit of the kit arrived in the mail today. It's the wiring kit i bought separate. It has all the relays and fuses and plugs in a single wiring bundle makes it a true no-brainer to install when the rest of the kit comes in. All I have to care about is getting a thick +12V straight from the battery, and a socket to connect from the original H4 lights to this harness.

Oh, and the harness was $4,96 (including P&P) and the HID kit was $33,81 (including P&P). So for a total of $38,30 (€36,12) I could have a HID upgrade. At least it is worth the effort, seeing that the 'DeLorean Licensed' kits are close to $500.

I have no idea why not, as long as the color is ok, the light is adjusted, and the brightness is under 3400 lumens. can't see the problem. It's just that you can't use all 4 headlights as running lights as far as i know.

What IS illegal in NL is running sealed beams, which is why my car has H1/H4 units with daylight bulbs.

If all fails, it can be easily undone.

We have some law here which says HIDs need to be self levelling and have water washing systems, as well as colour restrictions

Thats interesting Arran. My mustang had xenons, they had to be bodged up with bulbs to get through the IVA test, but when I had it MOT'd it went straight through with the xenons on.... Maybe the MOT man was just lenient then.
