As Mike says, everyone has their own preference, a combination off effort expelled vs. result.
Some owners have an annual regime of a once-a-year deep clean with BKF (powder or liquid) applied with a 3M scrubbing pad (with the grain) and then weekly/fortnightly standard washed with just water or a mild shampoo.
Others just clean it with soap when it looks dirty. A few take it through a commercial car wash (not something I could do, frankly).
And then there are the owners who clean the frame regularly while on a lift.
Keep the BKF off the painted surfaces, mind you, or at least don't rub it on the painted surfaces at ;least.
One thing not mentioned yet - be gentle with cleaning the bonnet/hood. On some cars you can see a visible X mark, thought to be a result of too much pressure being applied on the hood
