Owners Clubs

Postby tbrm » Wed Apr 01, 2015 9:05 pm

Like most UK Delorean owners I am a member of both of the clubs and read both of the forums. Today on the DOC someone asked about a new radiator and to try and be helpful I posted a link to the very reasonably priced radiators on Eurotec (see link to the thread here http://www.deloreans.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 342#p51342 ). I now see that one of the moderators on that forum has changed the word "Eurotec" in my post to "Spammers Site". I am deeply, deeply pissed off by that, particular as I was just trying to help someone out and I cannot even begin to understand the rationale for such pettiness, stupidity and childish behaviour. I would also like to reiterate to Arran, Nick and Alistair that I have deep respect for you and would never say that sort of thing about you or your website. As things stand my membership of the DOC will expire in a few month time and it will not be renewed.

It's a shame really, and essentially the reason we're here. Our aim is to make owning and maintaining a DeLorean that little bit easier - every UK DeLorean owner knows we're here anyway, so what's the point in editing out helpful links? (it's not like our non-profit parts store is a business). It's not just your post - every single posting mentioning our "brand name" has been edited out, and all links to our site(s) have been edited to go to a processed meat manufacturer. I did a quick search of the "other club"'s domain name here and it shows up in plenty of threads (count varies depending on forum permissions), and a few signatures, many more than the other way.
To be fair it's only a handful of people, I'm sure we're all guilty of our fair share of arguments over whatever over the years, although Claire's attempts to damage my business with fake reviews was perhaps a bit over the top and crossed the line in my opinion (the "just to echo" part references another fake review from "the other side" which I managed to get removed).

Anyway, I feel your pain Richard, as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I'm sure it could be said many of us "on both sides" have expressed personal differences and maybe feel we have an axe to grind, but in the end it doesn't really help with what we're trying to do, which is to make owning a DeLorean as enjoyable as it can be - a tall order admittedly ;)

It looks like Chris has edited it back now anyway.

Don't worry about it Richard, we haven't taken it personally. Stick to your car and the friends you've made from owning it, whichever club/area/ background/ whatever...

Peace :D

They say that time is a great healer. Well in this case time and red wine are great healers.

Peace indeed. I love you all :D

I'm afraid I'm just as bad!!!! I want punch Dicky H in the head. To be fair it's just a bit of club rivalry, we've got the better club, do better things and better members than them and they don't like it. In fact some of our members still go to there meets ( double agents) But to be fair, if I ever had the opportunity to meet up with Claire Usher and co, I wouldn't hold any animosity because there isn't any, it would be nice to chat to that lot again.
I mean it about Dicky H though!!!

As a (fairly) recent owner of a delorean i joined both forums and the owners club. All i can say is that the welcome, help, advice and generosity of the people I've met through this forum has been wonderful. Especially the welcome. :) I've only been to one of the other meets and it was a decidedly chilly In some quarters.... Make of that what you will.

Hi All, it's not often I do this, but I've decided to lock this topic. I don't want this to go down a "which club is better" debate. There are many great people who are members of both, and we're not here to cause any divisions. As said, we're all here to make new friends, fix cars, have a good laugh etc.

If anyone has any issues with me doing this, feel free to send me a PM and I'll answer any question. If not, get back to work on enjoying cars, Pies n Pints or whatever gives you fun :)
