I have posted this topic into the Italian forum:

http://www.dmc12.it/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1192

Unfortunately I won't be in Bergamo on the 17th of May

Just a couple of suggestions to you: the competition takes place across open to traffic streets. Speed limits and usual driving rules apply.
Attendants and sunday drivers, who would like to emulate the pilots and often challenge with them, are sometimes unfortunately involved in accidents.
In 2014 two Mercedes 300 SL gullwings were damaged in accidents with out-of-competition drivers. One of them was completely totaled.
So pay extreme attention while driving and respect driving rules.
That said, enjoy your trip!

Cheers guys.
"International adventurer" I like that!
Yeah, I saw pics of that Merc Gull-wing, nasty. No worries about the racing, I'll be happy with making the start!!
Been busy building a porch all this week, but next week, need to plan route, get some new front tyres, look into AC & then do a few miles down to Newquay (bro's birthday) to see how it rides at motorway speeds.

I didn't check DOT codes, but I really like the look with the white writing. Loads of tread although unfortunately the front has a sidewall nick & I'd feel a lot better going 70mph with fresh rubber up front.

Hello Biff! Nice to see you are coming to Italy.
Mille miglia is a great event, and you will see really A LOT of cool cars.
I live between Brescia and Desenzano, the first step, a bit north of the main road of the competition.
I don't know what your plans will be, if you want to follow the racing cars after the first ones leaves from Brescia or after all, or between...
We can meet somewhere on the road there, on the May 14, maybe in "Lonato" or "Padenghe del Garda" wich are quite near Desenzano, the map of the mille miglia road is a bit unclear where exactly the convoy will move.
Let me know!

Hi Andrea.
Our plans are still fairly loose. We plan to be in Brescia area on the 12th night/13th morning, to allow for breakdowns or any problems. It would be great to meet up. The lakes area looks lovely.
On the 14th we'd like to be in Brescia for the day, chilling, soaking up the atmosphere & looking at the 'other' entrants. Watch the evening start, but then get going and drive on down to Rimini with them.
Any local tips on where to stay, what to see, would be a great help.

Thought this is probably the right thread to post this in as both myself and Biff are heading off to the continent in a couple of weeks. What would you take with you when taking a DeLorean on a 2000 mile road trip?

Here's my list:

Full tool kit (sockets, spanners, pliers, mole grips, stanley knife, screwdrivers, hacksaw, jump leads)
Accessories (relays, fuses, jubilee clips, electrical kit with wire / connectors)
Tyre sealant / inflator (no spare)
Torch
Spare coolant bottle (my new DMCEU one already has a crack at the top lip)
Euro travel nonsense (triangle, reflective shit)
2 litre bottle of water (for engine if required in overheating emergency)

Things I'm not planning to take:
Original jack (I wouldn't want to trust it to hold the car up whilst I'm underneath it, so why take it?)
Spare fuel pump (I'd need to buy a new one just to have as a spare - worth it?)

What additions should I make to this list? Biff - what were you thinking of taking?!

Yes, definitely worth it. You wouldn't want to break down and not have something to replace it with. Speaking from experience last October.
