I put a kickstart on the little red 750 but this is almost useless as it won't start the engine from cold, and it just tries to kick me back.

But if you bump it from cold, the kickstart can start it once it's warm. Sounds awesome!
The last Commandos had a stronger longer kickstart, so I may fit one of those. Either way it needs a folding footrest.
So I got into the 650. It is distressingly rusty. I last rode it in 2003, and laid it up covered in waxoyl.
Wheel rims were never great, but now the primary drive cover, battery cover, side stand (I may put this onto the 750), Brake pedal, mudguard stays all will be getting a coat of por-15. It's not going to look very good though. I guess it needs a thorough restoration again.

It has a belt primary drive, running a later commando clutch. This is supposed to be better, and technically is, but needs at least one new plate- the first clutch plate has no friction material left. I may replace them all...

I robbed a few electrical bits for yet another bike, which I took to Skye in 2006, so these will need to be replaced. It lets me run without a battery, output from the alternator is converted to 12v dc. Kick it to start, so no storage necessary.
Cheers, hope it's ok to post this here. It's really useful for me! Take it down if not appropriate
