Ahhhh cheers fella's.
Got to say it was a great trip, and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about it next year.
The Mille Miglia is a fantastic event. The cars, the history & the locations.
It could not happen anywhere else. It exists inbetween blurred lines of what is legal & illegal. Police guiding us down the centre of two-way traffic, Cutting across the wrong side of junctions as the Police wave you through. Red lights don't always mean stop....... just slow down & beep horn a lot! All with the locals waving & wanting you to go faster. Happy days! As the saying goes....."It is definitely not a race, Just drive as fast as you can!"
As we know everyone loves DeLoreans but times that by the love Italians have for all cars & the way they more freely express their emotions & you spend your whole time being photo'd. I remember high-fiving people as we drove, with door open (it was 35*) through the cobbled streets of small village. Just brilliant fun!
If you had the car (pre-57) and the money the Mille Miglia would/should be at the top of your list to enter, and if you haven't, tagging along is almost as much fun.
The trip down is a long way, but is broken with some amazing sights and roads.
My must have's list....... LHD, a unusual car (convertible would be best for genuine experience, but makes hard travelling) pack light, pre-book hotels and program their GPS locations & of course, a loud exhaust!
