Apart from the fuel lines, everything should be in place now.

Gonna test the injectors, and then button everything up. Exciting times :)

I’m seriously closing in on my first start attempt. Today i started testing. The engine turns over, and the fuel pump runs. Those are the good news.

The fuel accumulator return line has a massive leak. I remember the hose being on the big side, and an optimistic attempt by me to compensate by frenetically tightening the hose clamp. It looks swell, but doesn’t hold the fuel in. A minor leak at the filter too, but tightening the nut might have done the trick.

I’m gonna try to find a proper hose for the accumulator, and see if there’s a way to break the stuck injectors fee.

I have 1-2 semi decent looking spare injectors lying around, and I’ll test them with some carb cleaner and compressed air.

Maybe I should verify spark at the plugs too, before trying to start.

Exciting times still!

More testing tonight. I had 2.5v voltage drop at the fuel pump. That needs to be fixed later, I hardwired the pump directly to the battery for now.

After some cleaning and fiddling, 5/6 injectors now spray properly. The last one sprays normally at low load, but when I press the plate all the way down, it cannot keep up with the others. I’ll look into that later.

The fuel distributor makes a strange hissing noise, like it is leaking or sucking air. Maybe it has air trapped in it?

After some fiddling around I now have a fully flowing distributor and 5 perfectly even flowing injectors.

I also have 5 spare injectors, and hope to bring at least one of them back to its singing glory.

Next up is getting the ignition working, it might be already, but haven’t checked yet. However I measured 5V at the distributor, not too promising...

It runs!!!

Like crap, but still.

I have since connected the alternator belt so I can get the water pump running, and get it up to proper running temperature.

A coolant tank is now on order, as well as a spare injector.

Let’s hope the car will run once it gets to clear its throat properly.

One step forward and two steps back...

Came into the garage today only to find a puddle under the car.

At least I know which problem to attack next :D
