Are you getting any return flow to the bottle?

How long before it gets hot? That could also provide an indication of whether perhaps your thermostat isn’t moving

I suspect a blockage somewhere

I now have the car running nicely and no heating issues now. I changed the otterstat and bled the system properly (i clearly didnt do it correctly the first time). Now the fans kick in at the 220 line and shut off at the white line between 100 and 220. Happy days. I will be installing a fan switch soon.

Passenger side rear lights now work fine too as ive soldered the bulb connectors as a temporary measure till i change to an LED setup. The board is pretty dirty and i cant clean under the connectors so have cleaned the area around the connectors and soldered to make a better connection. Huzzar!

I was a little naughty and took the car for a ride up and down my road. Was so awesome. It drives loverly and its now kinda hit me im an owner and i got a taste of living the dream.

Now to turn my attention to the braking system next. Then its time for an MOT and finally registering. Eek!

Oh here is the old otterstat. Can see why it doesnt work.

Do you have a version minus the music so we can hear how the engine is sounding?

Its not got an MOT and i doubt it would get one as the brakes need attention and i still need to change the headlights and get the fog light installed. Even if i could get all that done, it still needs to be registered. I would love to have gone to the meetup in it.

Youtube was being a real pain in the ass and wouldnt upload the vid cos it thought the music version was the same. So, i uploaded it to the facebook page and tagged you in it mike. You cant really hear the engine well but i feel its running great. Idles at just under the 10rpm level and starts up first time. Fans kicked in at a lower temp this time where they should kick in which is great.

It needs a new angle drive as the speedo is dead. Is that an MOT failure?

EDIT: low and behold youtube sorts itself out

Playing it with headphones in and I can hear it fine, have to say it sounds pretty sweet. Certainly heard them sound a lot worse when they've been woken from a long slumber.

Are you still bringing it up to the meet this weekend?

No im not. Im putting the £400 it would cost me to get the car there and back into getting the car sorted. Im actually surprised myself at how good it sounds and runs.

It would be the best place to get it tuned to perfection for sure.

Check the lower cable and/or the plastic dust cap, they are known for failing. Also a good time to replace it with the one-piece cable which bypasses the lambda counter, it cuts out a link in the chain and takes some strain off of the angle drive.
Re the MOT, yes, technically it's a fail as it's inoperative, but I assume you will be driving into the testing area, so they most likely won't get it up to enough speed to actually see it working.

Well i shall be bringing the car to the next meetup which i assume will be october time.

I havent actually inspected the angle drive yet. I just assumed it was dead as the speedo isnt working at all so i will check the cables etc before ordering anything. Personally i would like to get it working before the MOT. I dont want to fork out for another MOT if it fails due to this, and yes i will be driving the car to the MOT center.
