Yes! Thanks again for your help collecting the engine, and also for the lots of whatsapp support when I was ready to give up during the numerous problems along the way!

Next job, wheel alignment and fuel pressure test and adjustment, both to be done before Hamburg.

Great stuff Dan!!! Reckon you've got this engine in and out business down to a fine art now? How long do you reckon it'll take to swap back out to the 2.8 when it's ready? Do it all in a day?!

I'd allow a weekend for it as the wiring loom needs to be swapped over, exhaust system, fluids, bleeding etc. But should be straightforward in theory. It took a long time this time becuase of having to faff with the Renault lump intially to get it compatible with the D as well as a throrough clean up, clean up all my volvo fueling and ignition bits and putting all that together, plus trying to remember how the wiring is routed, setting up throttle linkage, diagnosing problems, playing with the mixture and throttle settings to get it to start, then fine tuning it all etc. All that faff is done now so can be lifted off this engine straight onto my new rebuilt one and quick tweak of CO.

Hi everyone. So 2 years has passed and my car was still running around on the 2.7 engine that was only ever meant to get my car going for the Hamburg trip. Anyway as you may have seen from my other post I managed to lay my hands on a complete engine out of a fire damaged Volvo 760.

This is the same 2.8 as used in the delorean but with higher compression. It also has no frequency valve or lambda sensor, and a slightly different advance curve on the distributor.

So after a lot of cleaning up of the new engine it was ready to be fitted. Huge thanks to Mec for giving up his time to come over and help with the swap. He also documented it for his you tube channel so keep watching his channel for a video or 2 in the future about this

Anyway, the 2.8 is now in and running well, I just need to sort an issue with my rear brakes and I will hopefully put some miles on it. The 2.7 is in my workshop looking for it's next owner. Here are a few pics of the swap:

Hey Dan,

Nice choice. Looking very clean! Good work, but, you do know it's still a POS, right?

Nice Dan! Any running gremlins to sort out or did it work fine straight out of the box?
