I'm well chuffed with how its come out, remember this isn't a flat panel and all those shapes had to be panel beaten back into shape, there is no filler in at all, its all metal, its by no means perfect but its the best i could do, its now had a coat of etch primer and stone chip both sides ready for some stone silver paint which I'm going to get made up tomorrow, here's pics with the stone chip applied...

Hi all

A few updates for you over the last week, i picked up a 2nd hand window regulator to replace the bodged one that was in the car, this was a massive £35 so very good value in my opinion...

Whilst i was in the door I sorted out door lock too, it didn't work properly, this turned out to be a snapped return spring which was laying on top of the lock, i nicked a coil out of the spring and bent it into a hook shape and reattached it, a nice free fix ..

Also when i took the door card off it was pretty much in half...

So this was easily repaired with some oversize washers

I then cleaned all the black sticky stuff off the inside..

and put everything back together, the window and lock are now working great, I then turned my attention to the rusty wing, I was just going to replace it, however with this being a budget project I thought Id have a go at repairing it 1st , here's the wing before...

I cut it back to good metal and started making a panel...

this then turned into this ...

I welded the 1st "curved section" from the back so there would be minimal dressing needed on the front groove

20191008_220156 (Medium).jpg (166.3 KiB) Viewed 5839 times

the other section I welded from the front as this bit is flatter and has to curve in a different way..

there was also this hole hiding under the filler..

I had to weld a plate in from behind as the metal was so thin, there was also a small rust hole a bit further round the arch, this was small enough to weld up ..

Its by no means perfect but a lot better than the previous repair, It bolts into the original holes now as least !
It will require some filler, hopefully this will make the repair look nice and tidy, we will see i guess, this will be the next step. on we go, Hopefully another update coming soon ;)
