Hi All
Right then poor old Poirot has taken a bit of a back seat with all the Project Plonker work that has been going on, however in the last couple of weeks I've been trying to do a bit to get this project moving again, starting off stone chipping the repair i had done and then started to repair the other end of the wing that had been repaired previously and covered in black paint...
Here is the Stone chip on the wing repair i had done to match the lower side of the car which is stone chipped below the swage line from factory...

I then went onto the other end of the wing and stripped it back to metal to make sure my new filler wouldn't react with the old stuff and also to minimize the thickness of the filler, once it was sanded it was only a very thin skim

I went through a few stages of filler to get the shape right and ended up with this ...

I then painted the complete wing in silver base coat and used 2K lacquer in a can which you have to activate to release the hardener into it, this is basically the same sort of product a body shop would use and because it has a hardener it can be wet flatted once dry and polished to get rid of any dirt in the paint, this is what i ended up with ...

I'm very pleased with the finish i got, I know that silver should really be blended on the car as it never matches but i didn't have a lot of choice as the car still isn't at my house so i took a gamble
Ive also machine polished the 2nd hand bumper i bought...

I chose not to paint it as I need to get the car on the road, so although its not perfect its presentable enough for now, I've also added rivnuts to mount the No plate plynth onto ...

The colour match is by no means perfect but its ok for now, it actually looks better in real life, you can also see in the above picture the outline of the badge on the 2nd hand bumper where its been masked when painted in the past, this is a circular badge which is the Eunos import badge, my car is a UK car so I didn't want to put an import badge on, i was thinking of reinstating the mustache sticker that gave "Poirot" his name in the 1st place, then Gem came up with the idea of a custom made badge

I'm well chuffed with the badge, it covers the circular mark on the bumper and allows Poirot to have his mustache just a bit more subtle
So onto the subject of the wheels, I have never been much of a fan of the style of wheels fitted to Poirot, they are from a Mk2 which is fine just not sure about them and also the tyres fitted although legal are all starting to crack so i thought this needed addressing, as this is a budget project i wanted to find a deal, which ended up being these...

These again are from a MK2 but the sport model, they are 16" so 1" bigger that whats on the car and 2" bigger than standard, as you can see from the pictures they are scabby but the tyres are like new and i got the lot for £80 ! I'm well happy with them but I think a little refurb is in order

I'm well please with the result, you may remember that the door mirrors needed repainting after taking off the stickers so i have done these in the same "Ford Graphite Grey" to match the wheels ...
