In 1982 two NIC ( Northern Ireland Carriers) transporters with six cars on each were on their way to the docks.
NIC management upon hearing that the factory had closed or gone into receivership ( unsure on this point) the drivers were instructed to return to the NIC compound with the cars on board.
The receivers took court action to recover the cars but lost , so they were auctioned to recover funds.
Eric Cairns was the auctioneer ( who also was the auctioneer at the DMC staff reunion also held in the Stewart suite Culloden Hotel , May 2015 )
Until very recently the exact vin numbers sold at the auction was not known, but an ex DMCL employee Rob Cook who was present recorded them and has shared the information.
Thanks to Robert Lamrock who was also present at the auction, incidentally so was Keith McCracken.
Some footage of this auction can be seen on the DeLorean “Car Crash” documentary.
Attached are some photos of the brochure, and the vin numbers plus purchase price.
Please note they were fully completed cars to US spec.
