I've then turned my attention to the heater not working, 1st i checked all the fuses, they are all good, so i took the motor out and checked this outside of the car ..

It powered up fine so I have come to the conclusion its the heater resistor that failed..

This is a sealed unit and they are only just over a tenner 2nd hand, so I'm going to order one and see how i get on.

When i removed the glovebox to access the heater motor, 3 modules fell down...

I had a look online and found that these were an add on alarm system when the car was new, which also gave the car central locking and auto up windows upon locking, on inspection wires had been cut and nothing was actually connected anymore, why people don't remove things properly I have no idea, there are no solenoids in the doors and i don't have any remotes for it so i set about removing all the old wiring which ran into the doors, engine bay, window switches etc ...

what a mess !! Behind the dash is a lot neater now

Now i went onto the suspension, in the ad when i bought the car it said the car had coilovers but the front ones have been changed back to standard because the old front coilovers lost there dampening, so i knew Id have to do something about it, just not this soon, I looked under the rear arch to see what coilovers were on it and found this...

So looks like i gota sort out the suspension sooner than thought, I took out the rear coilover and it had been proper bodged in the past...

Hi All

Bit of an update on Poirot, I have finally managed to sort out the suspension, originally i bought a cheap set of ebay coil-overs for it but i wasn't very happy with these and because I had mismatch suspension on the car the top mounts wouldn't fit without loads of mods, so i found on Facebook a standard set of suspension for £10 ! ...

I bought these cause because they are leak free and came with all the standard Mk1 top mounts, on the car the front suspension that had been fitted was off a Mk2 and although this fits it wasn't right, and on the back the old coil-overs had there own top mounts which as per the previous pics had been massively bodged on one side so having a matching set of top mounts was needed, now these are very tatty so some refurbishing was needed ...

And of course i wasnt going to leave it standard height so i managed to win a set of Eibach lowering springs on ebay for £81 which i thought was a good deal...

Its not massively low but a nice height and usable with speed humps etc

I have also refitted the original boot lid that came with the car, the previous owner had fitted a plain one which he preferred, but i think i prefer the original just because its a bit different and its what the car came with...

Little bit of an update on Poirot, havnt done much on this recently as the car has moved location to make way for the 2nd regal parts car but i have still got the wing at my house so have started a bit of filler work ...

It still needs a bit more finishing and a couple of pinholes filled but im pleased with the result, i also picked up another silver front bumper, its not perfect but in alot better condition than my old one ...
