Some of you may remember seeing 1 or 2 pictures of this car before, it has been referred to as the Desert DeLorean.

It was left abandoned at a paintshop in Dubai after being resprayed, the paintshop subsquently moved and the car was left for a long time!..in the end I think the paintshop claimed ownership and sold it last year to a German guy called Gerard Kohler, he has shipped back to Germany and set about restoring it.

Note the lack of torsion bars and the hydraulic rams that appear to pass right through the body, used as some high power struts!

Thanks to Stuart Rees for extra photos.

I remember this car, saw it many times.
There is a lot of job to do to bring it back to life.
Is there a link on the German forum where we can see the restoration in progress?

The car in the magazine was in a slightly better state than the current one ... but they attached a numberplate at the front? Why? It hasn't moved apparantly?

And did anyone notice that the gasstruts were still on the doors?

Regards

Good point Andy

Yes the gas struts look different in both sets of pics and also the front number plate on one set not the other.

Odd ... but looking at the paintwork they look like the same car..

Def the same car

Pics were taken at all different times, also it appears that some parts were robbed..then replacements or some way of opening the doors were sought to make it sellable.

I do have the guys email in Dubai who sold it, I could ask him.
