Saudi DeLoreans

There has been some discussion over the years about cars sold in Saudi Arabia with no real figures, or names etc.

Robert Lamrock kindly sent me a scan from his huge archive - from a Classic Car magazine in 1987 - with this information I have been able to track down and speak to the guy today who owned the company and imported the cars. - (Please see attached files) - you will note the author also mentioned he reported about DeLoreans in the August edition the same year - I have ordered that copy and will see if it contains anything.

Company name was National Corporation, Jeddah - Manager Dean Wali

He says they were the only dealer in Saudi Arabia and imported 17 cars all at the same time – all of them were automatics, the weak dollar at the time made it appear to be good business.

Some were sold to ‘foreigners’ working in the area– remembers a Dutchman and an Australian.

One was painted black, and another pink! The pink car he says he may have the owners details he is going to see what can be found.

They had issues moving the cars on - - and stripped one to use for parts only.

I will update this thread as and when new information becomes available - at least we know how many were imported - as they all appear to be 16xxx vins it can be confirmed that the deal would have been carried out by Consolidated - and the cars were sent straight from the factory.

Also attached is the article from August 1982 - which doesn't quite display the amount of cars sent to Saudi - I now think it says 17 which matches what Dean says.
