Thanks to our superdooper webmaster Arran, our chat room is now open !

This is a fully 'forum integrated' chat package, meaning that once your logged into the forum, a click on the chat 'button' and your in

The chatroom will appear as a 'pop-up' so please make sure that the 'pop up' function within windows is enabled for this site to allow this to happen, but any problems please ask.

There is also a private chat function within the package and the ability to instantly swap files etc.

We have proposed an inital group chat for 9pm on Thursday ... ie tomorrow... but the chat feature is there for you to use at anytime 24 -7

If anyone has any suggestions for another date or time please suggest.

Confirming I have indeed put all the stuff in now on the forum template - i.e. ^^^^^^^ Chat Room in red, and a big "who is chatting" box on the front page etc. :ugeek:

Before you start using it I would strongly recommend all Internet Explorer users allow all popups from this site, otherwise you may have to log out of chat if you click on a link, and it will get pretty annoying. To do this:
- open the chat window
- type "www.test.com"
- click on the link
- then on the information/warning bar at the top choose "always accept accept popups from this site"
- if/when clicking on a link actually opens a page then you've cracked it. 8-)

I'm not a Firefoxer, so can't comment on what to do there. 8-)

And Safari users will find it a lot more complicated, but there you go - you'll be used to that! :mrgreen:

I can see it being useful for trying to fix immediate problems, i.e. just stay logged in until someone turns up. But "Big Chat Events" would be fun too, so as bozzzy says - Thursday 9pm-ish :mrgreen:

This prolly works for Internet Exploder too, but in Firefox, if you have popups turned off (I do), then by holding the shift key down when you click on a link, it allows that one to open a popup. Holding Ctrl down opens it in a new tab.

In the latest version, when something tries to open a popup, firefox drops its little info bar warning you that it's been blocked, and giving an options button from which you can pick "allow popups from this website".

Just talking about clicking links within the chat, should anyone post a link. In testing in IE8 it fired up the popup blocker. 8-)

I've just been looking at the stats for the chat room - we're currently averaging 1250 posts per day! And I think some of the busier weekdays are about double that. Not bad eh?

Missing the old chat room. Since most of my access is on my iPhone, I don't think it is possible.
