Clean the seat foam

Lads, i've started the recovering of my seat step #1: getting the old leather off, done.

What's the best / easiest way to thoroughly clean the foam?

Im not sure i would to be honest as it might start to degrade or disintigrate

The foam is still firmly attached to the frame, i won't mess that up...

I'd spray it with some softening detergent for clothes, sponge it in and out by massaging it.
after I'd suck it out with an industrial vacuum.

That should kill any smell.
