Sound isolation (Silent Coat)

Now that the seats are out, I'm planning on cleaning up the carpet while i'm at it.
Years back i've been researching on using Dynamat in the cabin, but abandoned that plan for it being too expensive. I just stumbled on a new material called Silent Coat, which is way cheaper.

It's about 4 m2 which should be more than sufficient for about £89 UK (
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/silent- ... on-2mm-mat) or €119 Netherlands (

Any experience with it?

Here's the plan. I'll be ordering 2mm and 4mm sheets. Put 4 mm on the floor and footwell area to minimize most of the road noise. I'll put 2mm sheets on the sides (shifter tunnel) and under the seats (so the seat rails sit good, as well as the seat itself absorbs a lot of sound. Then put 4mm on the wood panel behind the seat. If i have some left, i will put that on the rear firewall later on.
I calculated i'll be needing about 4 m2 in total.
Total price around €129.

Started work on the sound isolation. I did all this in one hour (easy does it). It is already noticable when i just shut the door.

If you can wrap a newspaper around a baked fish, you can do this too. It is very easy.
And: I bought way too much.

Ok, just for a tryout I put in the carpet, the seat and the new DMC floor mat. All the holes still match up! (this means I didn't fuck up).
