SKU: 100523 Is what I have ordered and its leaking, couple of questions as I have came here off the back of viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5570

Q. is 100523 a captive nut ?
Q. this filter came with 4 copper washers, I used 2 on the top but none underneath (I assume it was for other models)
Q. Should SKU 100523 seal with PTFE without the MOD suggested in Andy's thread ?

1) 100523 is the DeLorean part number, but if you can tell us what exact brand of filter you have I can advise - some have captive nuts and some don't. Some seal better than others, but are usually all doable with PTFE tape.

2) correct

3) see 1. Andy's mod is a very good idea though, and will work in the future with all types of filter too.

That is not a captive nut then - it will seal with PTFE tape, but as always Andy's mod is the better solution really.

I have made progress, with PTFE the bottom is sorted. But after 3 failed attempts the top is still putting a fine spray out :(

How tight should the top banjo bolt be ? I assume not too tight. I think I have mentally screwed myself as the first time I did it the copper actually distorted.. These are not compression washers so it should just be a straight seal. Thinking further maybe my distorted washer has grazed the pump face but copper vs steel... unlikely.

Get another nip on it ?

The top is not usually so hard to seal..... Filter, washer, banjo eye, washer, banjo bolt. Is the banjo bolt maybe too long??

I cant see how it would be too long as it came off it. Its a pain in the backside as I cant see the top when its in as the bottom fitting is fixed. I may invest in BP shares at this rate the amount of Unleaded I have bathed in.

I think Its the filter, just removed the lot with new washers bolt, filter etc coming.... Took it back to the workshop and the mating surface of the filter is not flat, I compared with the old one and it just has a raised area on the top surface. I put the copper washer on and it doesn't look like it will seal, but the old one is perfect.

So I am not losing the plot... Glad I ordered the new one, my copper washer supply is running low :)
