Great news Tom.

Is there some reason why this doesn't look anything like a DeLorean engine?!

Seriously though, you're swapping a few parts here? What's the difference between this and the engine we all have? :?

Steel covers and a flex plate (automatic) with carbs. Probably a 2.6 unless it's from a Pug (don't have much experience of them). The only 2.8 carb that I know of is a GTA atmo and they're all 5-speeds

Yep - I think it's from a Peugeot, although not from a Dakar Rally car!

Sallys watching The x factors on telly so i thought i'd give you a bit of an update on the engine situation.

First off, it's off a peugeot 505 auto, which has been rebuilt with new chains, cams and other very interesting bits n bobs. i just picked up a new clutch for it today as well for the bargain price of £100

This morning i started to strip the knackerd engine down, removing the sump sandwich plate and a pipe or 2. The block is a bit of a bodge i may turn it in to a coffee table and get my own back.

As my mornings start at around 2pm i didn't get chance to put the old bits on the new engine, i'll do that tomorrow starting at the crack of dinnertime.

The good news is that while i was taking all the various nuts and bolts off i didn't break, thread, round off or lose anything at all, even the exhaust studs came out ok

Here are some piccies of the eventfull day

BTW the dizzy will need to be changed for my one as peugeot used a computer thingamabob instead of the volvo/delorean setup
and the other item to note is that the engine will only run on carbs as there are no injector holes :o

OH and its got a mecanical fuel pump running off the other cam shaft, its up to me if i want to use this or the elrctric one i installed in the fuel tank

If you get me the code from the carburettor (solex, weber, stromberg etc) then I can get the info for you.

nice thread :)

post a lot of photos of your engine transplant :) I like to see other PRV's in the delorean. So will you keep it carbed :) ?
What the original engine had? Will you put the lower crankcase taking it from the original one?
