I see on the news today Lord Prior has passed away. He was the Secretary of State for N.I. in the early 80's & was basically the guy who said it was all over for the Delorean factory. He is in quite a few of the documentaries on the subject.

Barrie Wills did say that Lord Prior supported the consortium to try and save the factory to no avail

BBC News has just reported the death today of James Michael Leathes Prior PC - Baron Prior of Brampton in the County of Suffolk - at the age of 89. He was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland for three years exactly from September 1981, inheriting the oversight of the DeLorean project from his predecessor, Humphrey Atkins.
John Z, the DeLorean & Me - tales from an insider describes in full Lord Prior's role in the receivership, his support for the efforts of the 'UK Consortium' to rescue the Dunmurry company, and the company's ultimate liquidation. In the book he argues the case for 'Cock-up' rather than 'Conspiracy' in the company's downfall.
Above all, Jim Prior fought as hard as he was able to save the business and the jobs in Northern Ireland. RIP Lord Prior.

Yes, on the 'car crash' documentary, he sounds like he was quite supportive & 'in favour' of the Company. He says at one point Thatcher basically said just get it closed & sorted, or words to that effect
