Splitting the rear lights

Just had delivered some paint for my rear indicators - as Aaron said on the phone you can get to most of the lens from the rear but not all , so I would have to paint part of the outside too - so wondering if there is anyway I can split the rear light so that I can get to the back of the indicator lens ? I have not looked behind the foam gasket as it looks a little brittle - surely there is a way to getting the unit apart without damaging it ???

I tried to get mine apart to paint from the inside but because it's glued I was in danger of breaking something so painted on the outside and it worked out fine, you cannot tell unless you look really closely. Do it in a few thin coats

Looks fine, could always stick amber bulbs in as well just to be sure

The original set on my California car were bleached clear too,

Took the bulbs out and painted the lenses on the inside with a modellers brush through the bulb hole ;) No brush marks and not subject to weathering or washing wear.

Tided me over for a year until I managed to buy some NOS ones back in the days of Delorean One !

My painted old ones sold on ebay about 8 years ago so are probably still in use. :D

Yeah - the car had orange bulbs in but not a sign of any Amber on the lenses so I will probably leave the bulbs in but at least looks better now that the lenses are painted - can only see the brush strokes if you look close - gave them 2 coats with the paint from club parts - looks the perfect colour too
