Bracket To Refit Original Craig Radio

Hi all,

I've bought a Craig radio to refit in the car, the previous owner has widened the the gap to fit a modern radio (as shown in the photo).

I'm sure someone has solved a similar problem, any suggestions without replacing the entire mounting plate?

I've posted it on DMCTalk as well to see if any of the yanks have a solution.

Cheers,

Max

Hi Max,
Someone did the same to my car. I picked up a Pioneer unit that has a high spec. Although I can appreciate it would be nice to have the original Craig for the look if not the sound quality.

Hey Nick,

Thanks for the link. Ended up getting one of these but I will have to widen the hole a bit more before it will fit. https://www.classiccarstereo.co.uk/acce ... o-adaptor/

Unless I don't suppose anyone who's planning to put in a modern radio has an original mounting plate that they'd be willing to swap for my precut one?

Nice find, I've not considered one of those before but often think about possibly going back to one of the OEM DeLorean stereos. Especially as you can have them updated internally (a chap in the states does this) to allow you to connect to a Bluetooth device.

OEM look, modern functionality win win

Totally agree, that's the plan :)

My dad's an electrical engineer (http://www.dansette.com) so he's servicing the radio and doing the bluetooth mod himself. When it's finished I'll upload some pics and if anyone is interested I can pass along his email address. I imagine it'll cost a lot less than if you had to ship it abroad.

I’d be interested in a service and upgrade. Let us know the outcome and costs.
I’ve not got a Craig or ASI in mine, it’s still an 80s shaft radio..... but it’s cool and suits the era..... so I’ll stick with it I reckon.

Can’t find much info on it at all. I saw a booklet for it for sale on eBay. And that states that it’s aftermarket.
