Agreed, great pics like the wheels and that shade of green is really nice. Remember seeing that in delorean world magazine back in 1995..

Is that the same green car owned by Rob,
I think it's got a Bae single turbo on it?? :?

Yes that is Rob Gradys

He only used damaged panels that were deemed unsaveable.

Amazing footage in there - including the guy who paid £15300 for one. I wonder what was so special about that lot that the price went £5k above some of the others?!

Also I wonder what they had to do to get those cars on the road in the UK - they talk about it in the footage but not specifically. Must have been a nightmare running one in those days with no parts support whatsoever.

Well that is an interesting point.

I am told that the cars registered in NI went through without too many hiccups remember also they had test cars registered in NI, there was some loophole with type approval which applied to NI only.

The guy above Noel Orr once told me that he got stopped in NI by the Police who said that despite registration it was illegal to drive on the road... but he never heard anymore about it.

England was a different ballgame altogether at that time , hence all the work carried out to Vin 11133 to satisfy DVLA testing etc - metal fuel tanks no catalytic , different side repeaters , Rubbolights etc
It does seem the work was the same as the RHD to gain registration in UK.

I was at the auction and my notes state that Michael Wenman from Surrey bought the very last car (an automatic) at the auction hence the highest price.
There must have been a few bidders holding out for a good price but left it too late.

So when did they suddenly decide the original lights, repeaters & tank etc were ok?

No idea
Maybe some one tried to register one without all the usual and went through ok ?

Or rules changed as imported vehicles started arriving

Earliest I know is 1990 registering in the UK with only a fog light added

It could be none of it was actually required and Mr Gerry Castle was making work for himself but I think that unlikely
