Dyno!

So I took the motor down to a dyno place yesterday to get it checked out - finally - see what kind of power the mods are making. Amazing results...

200.5whp = in the region of 235bhp at the flywheel. :D :dmcdoors:

All about the euro-spec ;) Questions?

Wow that is very interesting. I'd like to put a stock D on that same Dyno for an accurate comparison.

Well I will admit that not all is as it seems :) The dyno however is accurate...

Well I did never say it was the D. The Mini is 'euro-spec' with a few mods too :D

Pretty happy with the results actually, and it's flying since the service with some new plugs in it. Don't think I'm going to bother modding it any further - it's only 14whp off the highest anyone has got in the UK with a stock head - so the next things to change (manifold, catback, cams, custom tune) I could only expect to get me another 14hp - hardly worth it for the best part of a grand.

Weird seeing a bunch of Mini engines kicking about - they're tiny compared to the PRV! (but yet put out twice the power - brilliant :D )

Do you have a Prince engine Gez? If so they made at the Douvrin facility! More in common with a Prv than you think?

The Prince engine is the one that goes in the current generation and also the Peugeot 207s - mine is the older Tritec (basically a Chrysler engine). Tough as old nails, easy to tune in supercharged form and loves a drink. Which is why it got the boot for the new Minis :D

Not sure thats quite why it got the boot

BMW complained about the performance of the engine. According to Ward's Auto, Erich Sonntag of BMW described the Tritec engine as old fashioned and not very effective on function, performance and fuel efficiency
