OK, slight update.
Went to have another look this morning to see what was jamming the fans and there was no question, that the main culprit was the housing.
So, given that it was cracked in a number of places anyway, I decided to pull out all of the bottom part of the housing so I could at least access and free the fans off. Certainly not as easy as first thought... some bits were clearly loose and others were well wedged in there.
Managed to all but free off the offside fan, enough to be able to spin it by hand although it's still slightly catching the top part of the housing. The nearside fan is a slightly different story, yes, it was rubbing against the housing, but it has clearly been pushed back in the impact to the point where it is rubbing against the frame! (will try and get a pic of this later to show you). Again, it's only slightly catching the frame but it's enough to stop it moving freely. I did have a go at pulling the fan forward and away from where it was catching, but it justs goes straight back again. Didn't want to bend it too much, as I'm not sure how strong they are...
Also, I'm now 90% sure it's my rad that is leaking, as when I was taking apart the housing I did get a few drops of coolant!
So to me, it looks like what's happened was the badger narrowly missed the bumper, went directly under and smashed into the air con condenser and the force of this has pushed the rad and fans further back?!
So what now?!...
