Split from the Luxembourg thread - this is the story of two DeLoreans on the Nordschleife at The Nürburgring.

OK - well so far I have 3 cars confirmed for the Autobahn route (no limit!), with a short stop in a quiet village in Germany. Likewise we need to get back as early as possible too, and we've got further to go. The drawback is that we'll have to leave Vianden at about 11-11.30am on the Sunday. This gets us to the lovely village of Nürburg at about 1pm. 30 minutes of gift shop/standing around/cup of tea/fag, then onto the "toll road" for 13:30 precisely. 13 minutes later we hit the road. Let's say that's 14:00 - worst case. That would get you home at 17:30. The quickest route for you is to go "straight up" at Kerpen on the map above on the way back.

 so you really think our D's can make the ring trip in 13 minutes?

I am getting very tempted...

I did a couple of trial laps in the DeLorean on the Nurburgring Nordschleife today but I couldn't get it under 8 minutes.. 8:05.42 to be exact. I will try again for a better time later today.

Before you al get started: this was on Xbox360 Project Gotham Racing 4.

lol Rob

Dan Shane has driven around the 'Ring' a few times in the DeLorean...I think he was being cheered on at the time too.

Yes A-B. But just to get the excuses in now, we're going to be doing it fully loaded with luggage, and two-up in each car, and trying to save fuel too... and the dog ate the BHP graph.

Two things to add for the Nurburgring:

- Sunday MAY be a track day. In that case normal people cannot get on the track. The site should have some agenda
- By all means get yourself a temporary insurance with the drive on the track; the Nurburgring office can provide you with one. Regular insurance will NOT cover any breakdowns or damage on the ring.

Sunday isn't a track day - maybe on the GP track, but we're doing the big one, which is open to the public from 13:30.

And, yes quite right. If you go on the track you won't be insured at all (includes breakdown insurance), so take it easy! :D - temporary track insurance is going to be prohibitively expensive I think we'll find.

Rob - any ideas for the meet-up on Thursday in Belgium? Further to the time I may have originally given, I didn't take time difference into account - we'll be in the Brussels area at about 14:00, all being well. Nearby to Brussels is Leuven (home of Stella Artois), and the town of Hoegaarden.
We'll be hungry.

I don't have a ferry timetable of any kind to keep track of, so I should be able to meet up at any time that is convenient to all of you.. Leuven is mighty fine, and Hoegaarden is one of my favourites when I dont have to drive a car! 14:00 WILL be a hungry moment indeed which gives us a great opportunity to have some lunch together! I still haven't had word from other Dutch owner (i stopped trying); i am free to go wherever I want.

But to be concrete: name a place and time and I will be there. Leuven is only a 2 hours drive for me. :D
