If you're getting a clicking when you turn the key to position iii, but no crank, then it's likely to be the starter/starter solenoid as already mentioned on FB.

More than likely yes, we are very easily tempted with offers of free drinks ;) Just make sure to post up and let us know ahead of time what the current status/symptoms are, that way we can prep Arran to bring with him a selection of spares which would possibly be required.

Ok so after getting a few quotes to get my car to norfolk, its not really financially viable. So im gonna have to get the car going myself. Worst case scenario i could get it to chris n and have him work on it whilst getting some other things done too. Hes only a 15min drive from my house or a 5min walk from where i work.

Ryan, have you looked at a self drive transporter? Sam went this route to get his car up to Norfolk in March, I believe it cost him something like £150 for a weekends hire.

^^ And that cost is negligible compared to the value of what you'd get done in the car park with a few people on it in pretty short time.
It's always good for everyone to have something to "do" like this on these weekends, and you'll find it much cheaper than paying a garage/Chris, plus it will give you more confidence to tackle certain things yourself later on as they crop up.
I can't imagine Chris would find the time to look at it between now and, say, July.... for £100 ... ;) (especially if he is in America :) )

I havent really looked at a self hire one really. I looked a little when i was going to collect the car from the dock but i had to throw down £600 as a deposit which i wasnt comfortable with.

Can anyone recommend a company i can look into? I agree £150 would be great value for money

I hired one to pick up my D back in 2014. They were near Colchester, not sure if they still do them or not but worth a call:

Call Lee on 07702468729 / 01621928305 Or Mike on 02036517528 / 07707056133

Ok im at a loss. New starter motor is in and still the same. Im bringing the car down via a recovery vehicle as i cant figure it out. Im suspecting either there is a hidden immobiliser somewhere or the PO has rewired the whole car and just screwed everything up. I cant tell whats original or what the PO has done. There are wires spliced into wires under the drivers side dash and some wires that have connection spades on them but no where to go.

It might be worthwhile starting another thread specifically about your starter motor not cranking the engine.

You could consider checking the starter motor relay contactor is working, and that the 12v feed into pin 30 on the starter motor relay exists. The relay is located with the other relays under the board behind the passengers seat.

I'll assume that the main car battery is good, 12.6v (certainly above above 12.4v) and will pass a load test to check for voltage drop under load. Also that the earth return flexI strap is in good condition and connects to the engine chassis fine.
