Ok hi chaps i have just been in the chat room with the trouble makers and came up with a idea.I thought i would just put up a post to see what sort of intrest it would get.
Ok next year maybe in the summer sometime we the delorean club uk would do a rally in our deloreans through europe
Eg ...start in france and finish in france but do a 5 or 6 day rally through paris, germany, prague, italy, amsterdam, belgium, back into france.
i havn't got google earth on this computer so the direction maybe wrong but you get the idea.
however each delorean club we visit have got to organise a great night out on route.
my mate and i done a rally earlier in the year and really the only thing that is going to cost any real money is the fuel because we could either camp out or get b&b there again if organised properly maybe the fellow clubs could find us accomadation on route.
the fuel on our rally cost about £500.00 and we spent about £500 on accomadation just to give you a bit of a idea .but like i say organised properly the locals could find us cheep accomadation .
for example when we went to amsterdam we paid about £125 for a night stay however edd found us b&b for 20 euros (you get the idea)
anyway any thought on the idea please feel free to post up
cheers tyson
Lets put the euro in eurotec :D

Superb idea Tyson :D And anyone who makes the whole rally without their Delorean breaking down wins a prize ;)

Seriously, that would be a superb trip. There are loads of countrys in europe I've never been too and the D is at its best cruising on good roads. We could get walky-talkys too.

Brilliant idea Tys - I particularly like the idea of Prague! ;)

BUT - seriously:

What is the realistic chance of that actually happening? My car has never let me down - yet - but what kind of mileage is that? How successful was your rally - breakdown-wise? Can we persuade someone with a trailer to follow us? (Or a Morris Marina)

Seriously, I have done well over 3000 miles in my D without it actually breaking down so it can't move. Ok the windows will probably pack up and speedo will break, but the car will still work, its only a volvo underneath. As long as one of us has a spare fuel pump and an rpm relay or 2 we will be fine. And if the worst happens there is breakdown recovery cover. I think its a good idea Tys.

Sounds like a great idea :D We're up for it :D
Can I just make a couple of suggestions.
1. Probably a good idea to avoid city centres. You get lost, you get split up, cars overheat sat in traffic and nobody gives a .... if they prang your car.
2. Just a thought - Top Gear roads. I'm sure with a bit of digging on the internet we would be able to find out where they are as well as other websites with good driving roads listed on them. I'll have a look.
3. Maybe not the best idea to do it in the height of summer for those of us whose air conditioning doesn't work. Spit roast springs to mind. The roads will be a lot busier too.

Think it would be a great idea to meet up with the other clubs to show us the cheap hotels, the good local roads and to have a few bevvies.

Again just a few suggestions so please don't shout at me again.

EDIT: found them, http://www.redlineblog.com/top-gears-wo ... in-detail/

I lost my Delorean in the center of amsterdam once, my parking ticket ran out and 2 hours later i was still wandering round trying to find the street I parked on!

Mend it then ;)

The French event could be in May

Big tech session, bbq and a nearby beach!...and beer!
