Yes, but where do you put your punctured wheel?! It would have been ok for you with no passenger on that occasion, but quite often on these trips there is a passenger, and I haven't come across one happy with the idea of a long journey with 15 inches of wheel on their lap!

Just get yourself one of those puncture sealant kits and a 12v-operated compressor. My Honda came with it so I just take that from the other car when I am in the D. The Honda didn't even come with a spare. At least this allows you to get off the busy roads safely and drive to a tyre shop.

Yes, they do. But you can come home with the original tyre (unless it is shredded to pieces of course with rarely happen these days).

But you end up wasting a good tyre for one tiny nail hole.

What you need is somone with spare delorean wheels on the end of the phone to deliver to you at the side of the road anywhere along your journey.... (thinking back to the last ireland trip) :D

You mean that you UK dudes have found a way to properly repair a punctured tyre? For me, that would be a write-off...

I'd happily put down about a hundred euro's to replace the tyre afterwards if that gets me home without significant delay.

Are you serious Rob ?

A nail in the tread of the tyre can be fixed for about £10 buddy

(Knocks on Wood) I've driven about 400.000 km's in the last 15 years and I *never* had a puncture. Maybe it is because of the dutch roads I don't know...

Again, I'd rather spend 5 minutes at the shoulder spraying in a can of repair goo & pumping it with the compressor, than trying to change a tyre with lousy tools while the trucks are screaming by at 90Km's an hour. If that costs me some money, fuck it. I'd rather live.

He's still trying: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/320696689395

Now he wants £250 for an old fuel pump!
