I know if you are buying from the UK from Ireland you can buy ex-vat if your "company" is vat registered.

Yes, that is correct Kenny.
Bought parts for my company last month in Boston, UK. For 2000 pound and there is no VAT on the invoice.
They did need my Dutch tax number.
