Come to think of it, I might need a gasket/o-ring/copper washer kit before reassembly. What standard kits are available?

Gotta question for you lot.

I am doing the VOD bit, and it looks quite ok. Yes the old paint job has dissolved but otherwise it was clean and solid except for a bit of old coolant mucking in there. No oils whatever. I've cleaned the bit up, but i haven't removed the Y-pipe yet because I am scared of breaking things like bolts that are ok.

Would it be ok just to clean it up and spray in a bit of tectyl to seal it up before reassembly?

Just a verification check, this is the CSV pipe connection to the intake manifold:

#8 is a copper washer
#9 is a rubber o-ring

Just want to be sure because all other fuel-related lines have 2 (two) copper washers.

Thanks.. I found that o-ring on the floor (fell of the intake) and now i know what it's for. As a good habit I clean the floor before any job and check for items when done.

Dont want to start the car in a couple of weeks with my hand filled with a bunch of surplus bolts left.

More progress made. Today I removed the final bits of piping in the VOD without any issues. Bolts from the Y-pipe came out without any struggle whatsoever. Woohoo! No broken bolts! (I was scared about this quite a bit). Now that everything is loose I can start cleaning up.

Nice one Rob.

Get that valley cleaned out and painted. I used cylinder black for air cooled bike engines.
