I bought the car summer 2008 and after it arrived at the tail end of October 2008 i started with the restoration.

I removed the doors, front and rear facias, hood, engine cover top and bottom.
I sent off the wheels to be refurbished by 'the wheel specialists' who did a good job (they also installed new tyres p600 and p6000s)
I started to repair the fibreglass section in the centre of the car in anticipation of installing Ed's stainless door support which i did back in december/january. I got four new door hinges; three from DPNW and one from 'The Don' in the states (he also sold me a pedal box to go into this car
)
I reinstalled the doors (hung them - not aligned) and acquired a new pass side torsion bar from DMCH. still awaiting a driver's side bar because as you will note both torsion bars were in two pieces when i bought the car. the passenger side door will now open properly, but needs adjustment befor it'll lock and unlock properly.

So as you can see I pulled the motor out (with tranny attached) and mounted it on a stand and stowed it at the back of the garage for cannibalization later.
Separating the tranny and motor I noticed that the clutch plate was well worn. I mean the car was only supposed to have done *around* 9000 miles, but it was very smooth indeed. Interesting find.
The rest of the photos simply show me stripping the frame down. As you can see the frame is pretty Swiss cheesed and needed to come out to be recovered. Interesting discoveries were that the clutch line was pinched just as it ran out the side of the centre tunnel just before the trailing arm. How’d that happen? The pass side brake line was rusted through and separated. The braided ground from the lower crank case to the engine mounts on the frame was broken - completely. Although in separating the body I did find a 'supplementary' ground running from the transmission casing to the ground terminal of where the battery would be.
particular areas of rust damage are in the corners where the fuel tank is (no surprises there) pass side engine cradle and all along the flat flange bit that runs along the outside of the centre tunnel of the driver's side.

!!COMPRESSING AND UNCOMRESSING THOSE COIL SPRINGS WAS A BALL ACHE TO SAY THE LEAST!!. Worst part of the job. ever.
interesting find in the centre tunnel, when i proped up the frame to remove the accumulator and fuel piping was a key marked 'fits Volvo' i tried it in the door and it fits (but does not turn). maybe it was stowed in the centre tunnel in case of emergency? I'll take a look at it later when i come to work properley on the doors.
I've also stripped the interior (basically every piece bar a couple of knee pads and the centre column were destroyed).
