So as some may know, at the MOT back in February, it was noticed that the crank seal on my car had developed a leak.

Speaking to the DBros about it, they very kindly offered to sort the leak for me. As more and more items were added to the list (trailing arm bolts, trailing arm bushes, lower control arm replacement to name but a few) 'Reap-Tec' was born, which took place last weekend.

In prep for Reap-Tec I had taken to spraying the manifold nuts with a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF fluid in an effort to ease extraction.

Dropping the car down to the DBros they wasted no time in dropping the box, clutch, and flywheel;

The exhaust was stripped from the car, thankfully without a single snapped stud!

On with the new crank seal, and as a 'while you're in there job' new clutch kit, including new slave cylinder.

The old clutch fluid had a real nice colour to it...

DMC Midwest Inconel (aka toby tabs) trailing arm bolts were fitted, along with new rubber trailing arm bushes. (The old TABs and bushes were in surprisingly fine order!)

Rest of the exhaust system bolted up to the car, with new exhaust mounts

The lower control arms were removed, the springs compressed with a hydraulic spring compressor, easier to use and much better than the standard wind up chassis wreckers you get from your local motor factors

DMC Midwests milled ally control arms were fitted in place of the original control arms. (the arms were powder coated at my request) and came loaded with new rubber bushes and club balljoints ready to fit straight onto the car.

The DPNW anti roll bar poly bush kit was installed, along with stainless front end recall plates.

A massive massive thank you from me to all the DBros for their time and generosity sorting out my car for me, I can't thank you enough  After this reap I think beers are owed for the foreseeable future

Thanks also to the club for the speedy delivery of parts (as always)

4708 is all sorted for Belfast now, and can drive safe in the knowledge that neither the front or rear wheels are going to fall off due to a TAB or LCA failure!

What an amazing amount of work, brilliantly done!   to the DBros :D

How long did it take to get all that done?

Those LCAs look awesome - did you stick with standard rubber bushes in them or go for poly? Was there anything iffy about the old ones or did you just fancy the upgrade?

About 3 days Gez.

The new LCAs have standard rubber bushes. The only bushes which are poly are the anti roll bar. Nothing iffy about the old ones at all, but having seen an increasing number of LCA failures being posted up over the last 18 months, I thought it would be the smart thing to replace them.
Once we got them off though we could see the original arms were absolutely fine, and once they are stripped and have the strengthening plate welded into them they'll be fine for many years to come.

Same goes for the TABs, the old ones were straight as a die and didn't really warrant replacing.

Some more upgrades to #4708 carried out a few weeks ago. New radiator, radiator fans, and silicone coolant hoses. Special thanks to Dan K for all the help in fitting these
