1981 - 1991 = From factory to Florida; sold to unknown buyer by unknown dealership

It may not have been first sold at a dealership in FL. Your car doesn't have a selling dealership noted against it on the earlier VIN lists. You could try here

http://deloreanmuseum.org/

and see if they have any more details. Sometimes they have copies of original warranty cards etc.

I dropped them a line, here's the reply:

"No record of this car exists in the known surviving DMC company records. The fact that it does not exist in the list of known sold cars as of February 1983 indicates that it was most likely sold to a retail buyer after that time. Sorry we have no more information for you."

Oh well! :(

Minor update: Got the trailing arm bolts replaced, one was a bit bent! Glad to have that sorted.

Just got this back from Ed Uding. Very nice job it is too!
Got sick of looking at the old one. The interior is now sorted (apart from the sagging headliner)

Lol, sorry! The wheel.
The binnacle was mint when I got it! The wheel, not so much...

Heh heh yeah, he's my cousin!!!
I mentioned that to him months ago, he must have forgot til now! Got it sorted but needs another wee bit of tweaking. Thanks for emailing the stuff anyway though. He said one time he knew someone that worked in Dunmurry back in the day that knew about doors but I didn't get a name. Wonder who it is...

I have heard about a few guys on the shop floor who worked there. I live in Lisburn and loads of people I know worked there and say they were on the door line! Either it was densely populated or they all want to be associated with the iconic part of the car.
