I had a (sagging) set of DMCH struts on my car when it came in. I swapped them for Herveys soft lift struts, but one of them went bad last year so I replaced them with a set of Eds. Ed's are OK (they have a brake in them at the top end to help prevent the door bouncing), though I find I have to push the door up the last inch or so since installing them, which I didn't need to do with Herveys.

John Dennys has had a set of PJ Grady struts on his car for years and they are still going strong - if I need to replace mine again in the future I will probably give them a go.

Dan 6511 wrote:I recon it will be fine. That volvo I bought hadn't run for 5 years and that started up easily enough, and that had been left in the woman's front garden in all weathers to rot. I'll change all the pickup hose and crap in the tank though, fresh fuel and it will go I recon. It was running in 2006 I think it said as I have a receipt from DMC California for a new cat and emissions setup to get it through the smog test they have.

Let me know when you're planning on trying to get it going, would be good to come over for resurrecto-tec!

Dont forget that importing from the us can be pretty expensive. Shipping, taxes, import duty. Being Dutch , Ed's mosttly the cheaper option for me in the end.

I'm going to the states next week with a suitcase so not a problem. Just want to get the best ones that's all. I might take a look at pj gradys then

Well I finally had some time on the new Delorean. Dragged it out of the garage and removed the fuel tank. Inside was totally gummed up with a thick tar which I believe is the ethanol in the US fuel melting the rubber pipe and boot. Also note the floppy doors.

The parts cleaned up ok, and the fuel pump actually works now after reversing the polarity back and forth a few times to free it off.

The steering column bush was non existent, so I have fitted a new one:

Lada lights fitted for the MOT only, then will put the stock lights back in ;) No wiring modifications needed, other than having to add a fog light :)

New struts fitted all round. The doors wouldn't close with the new struts fitted as the torsion bars were too tight! I had to back them off 2 splines  All working perfectly now though, and the doors actually shut nicely!
