Well, it’s taken 17 years ... but I am now in contact with a guy called Andrew Britton who imported a 1981 Delorean to the UK on the 7th June 1988 registration MXI 4811, vin 000569. I will post up more info once I get it. I have also managed to get in contact with Gerry Nestor 2 owners before me, who was kind enough to send some pictures from the 90’s of MXI.

On top of this I’ve been in contact with a company called Nicol Transmissions who are also listed as an owner.

Gerry’s pictures:

Ok, I’ve been in contact with the guy who imported MXI 4811 .. he imported it in June 1988 for a company called Nicol Transmissions in Kidderminster (they are still running, I’m have a phone call tomorrow with the director who was MXI’s first owner) .. Ironically 7 years after leaving DMC Dunmurry Belfast #569 was inspected and registered in Belfast Northern Ireland in June 1988 after it was imported ... hence receiving the plate MXI 4811... that was done so I’m told because there was no type approval in England and Nicol wanted it sorted... I’m told Nicol had a pair of De Loreans... Nicol have been in contact with me and I’m told has photos from 1988 ... I’m hoping with the other DMC... I really want to see the number plate of the twin of MXI... I’ll keep you posted : :dmcdoors: dmcdoors:

Well the first owner in the UK has filled in some gaps in the history of my De Lorean.

#569 was imported in 1988 from Burbank California by Nicol Transmissions of Kidderminster who were in the business of supplying TR6 gearboxes in LA and importing a few American cars as a side line.

seeing #569 arrived at Long beach in April 1981 it didn’t venture far at all ...photos of the car in 1988 Burbank will be sent to me soon, as well as some when she arrived in the UK in 1988 ...can’t wait!...

Due to type approval issues in England 1988 #569 was the trailered to Belfast NI and inspected and registered as MXI 4811 along with a grey interior DeLorean and used for a year, then was sold on to the next owner in Chichester 1989.
