Hi All,

After an exciting last three weeks I recalled that I had forgotten to announce that 16606 is now at home with me and on the road.

I collected her from PJ Grady on 28th December and drove her the 40ish miles home to north London. As I sat in the driver's seat and felt the resistance of the non-powered steering wheel I realised this was the first time I've been in a DeLorean at all, let alone driving one. The drive home was an experience. I'm very used to driving manual left-hand drive cars, but one the left-hand side of the road it took a little while to correct the natural drift whilst I readjusted my line of sight. On the other hand I was really pleased with how easy I found it to drive, gear changes to were clean, I didn't crunch them one.

Since getting her home I've driven 16606 locally around north London, I even felt brave enough to meet up with DeLorean owners and drove a 111 mile round trip to the Black Swan Classic Car and Motorcycle Breakfast in Ockham, Surrey. There's a bit of further tuning to do but for the most-part she's running well, considering the 25 years that have past with her laid up in a back yard in Ohio, in all weather condition, I am very happy. Yes there are a few issues to iron out, but all expected. I'm now currently forming a list of phase two items to be worked on.

This is also the start of a steep learning curve for me. Up until now my only dealings with cars is to simply drive them. I've never worked on them, mechanically or technically but I want the ownership of 16606 to be the start of my education. Already, with great thanks to one other DeLorean owner, I have done simple diagnostic work to identify the source of a leak, which has been resolved for now. Watch this space, and other more suitable sections of this forum, as I am certain I will be posting "How To" questions form time to time if I don't already find answers posted. I also look forward to driving 16606 to club events.

For now I am still maintaining my blog on tumblr but since not many folk have tumblr accounts I've also started to track goings on on a new Facebook back. Details of both sites can be found in my signature. Feel free to "like" and even "follow" my Facebook page. Various photos and videos can be found there.

Nice one Gareth, I am just north of Enfield

We might need to arrange a London meet at some stage!
