Made the mistake of getting front speakers with protruding tweeters which mean't I had to space them away from the dash. Hours spent trying to guide the screws and washers up vertically whilst on my back at the same time trying to prevent the fasteners from being pinched by the magnets :x

What speakers did you go with for the rear? (I used Infinity Kappa 52.9i on my car, and they clamped in without the need for any fettling).

For the fronts, did you bend the mounting tabs up and out as per the below pics, that should help a little with the protruding tweeter.

Did you run new speaker cable or split the old circuit?

Bent the tabs slightly placed a half nut 1/4 way down the stud to space the speaker. Then bent the tabs up a bit.

Yes, there's new cable. Removed the old crap.

The speakers are jbl 5020s I think.

Yep. just seen the order

I got these:

JBL CLUB 3020 - 3.5" 8cm 2-Ways Coaxial Car Speakers 120 Watts JBL CLUB 3020 1
JBL CLUB 5020 - 5.25" 13cm 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers 240 Watts JBL CLUB 5020 1
Kenwood KDC-164UR - CD/MP3, Front USB, Front AUX KEN-KDC-164UR 1
Rockford Fosgate RFWP16-30 16 AWG Speaker Wire Packaged 30 Foot Black/Silver ROC-RFWP16-30 1
Connects2 CT27UV08 Universal Electric Aerial CON-CT27UV08 1

So I suppose the lesson is don't get either the 3020 or the 5020 because neither are easy drop in.

It's a fine line between a nice neat fix and a bodge. I hope that I've done a nice neat fix 8-) :shifty:

For reference, these speakers should be drop in. The fronts are for sure as I used them on #4463:
Front (note, the mounting tabs will need to be bent as per the previous pictures I posted, but other than that they drop straight in):

Rear (I used Infinity Kappa 52.9i in #4708 and #4463, however this model is no longer available, that said, these Infinity Reference speakers should fit the same)

I fitted some Sony 6x9's in a custom rear board.

Made it out of MDF, covered it in automotive carpet and fitted in perfectly under the rear window.

Saved all the faf of trying to get a good fit in the original holes, no trim to remove and sounded great. Also with the cargo net in place they were invisible.

afternoon.

put the fuel system back together after getitng some more parts (fuel pump, stainless brace, tank hoses, filter...)

primed the system a bunch of times to check for leaks and found that fuel was pissing out of the bottom of the filter.....
(much like viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5570&p=73894&hilit=fuel+filter#p73894)

definitely coming from the filter elbow connection rather than the hardline. The fuel was atomising nicely in my face

The filter was from the club shop. It's possible that i may have accidently backed the filter up trying to align it with the hard line. I'll try again next week, but can anyone suggest any other remedy? cheers

Also, I moaned a few posts back about cylinder No 1 fuel hose not lining up. I've tried every which way to get the thing to fit properly (i.e.) not twisting, but it won't sit happy. When the injector is installed, the top banjo fitting sits vertical, but needs to be horizontal.

looking at the thing off the car, both ends have been crimped the same (that's to say they both point in the same direction). but i think they should be off set by 30-45 degrees
(the picture here: https://www.deloreango.com/uk/black-sta ... lines.html )

Am i right?

Filter - PTFE tape - it takes a couple of goes to get it sealed. Or make a thread modification to the elbow as in that link, and use a washer...?

Lines - every one of those lines has different angles, and none of them are labelled. You probably have them the wrong way round, mainly because it's impossible to get them right without them being labelled. No-one knows the right way. Pretty sure this is version you have: https://www.deloreango.com/uk/stainless ... hoses.html - I'd imagine you could swap 2 over and solve this issue.

thanks for that.

I'll give it a go. 8-)

Can't remember are the shorter injector hoses close in length to the csv or the warm up regulator?

hmm. not with the car now. I'll have a look.
