Good progress have you got anywhere further with the running issue

I had to get a replacement injector, and while waiting for that, I dug into the interior and electrics. So now the injector is replaced, but the electrical system incomplete....

I'm gonna replace the whole fuse box, but for now I could test run the engine again with the old one. So I might do that or keep working on the interior. We'll see.

I ran the engine a few minutes today. It does not idle but runs somewhat normally at higher rpm’s. I suspect a vacuum leak.

But after a few minutes I got a Bang!, and water pouring out from the engine.

I popped the intake to have a look, and The Valley was full of water.

I fear that the block cracked.

Shit...

Might be a loose connection on one of the o rings there, but unlikely

Usually you would get oil there if the block is porous in the valley

Can you see if any run marks down the sides ?

Let's hope it's something simple like the steel water pipe that runs under the inlet manifold letting go or a rubber pipe splitting

I popped the intake today, and pressurized the cooling system using compressed air.

The leak revealed itself. It was the lower part of the Y-pipe that was leaking. It may be that I forgot to tighten the clamp, but upon tightening it started skipping the threads. So basically the hose clamps are crap.

The previous owner got a full hose/clamp kit from John Hervey, and I’ve used them all over the car. If it turns out that they are useless crap, well, I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I replaced my radiator a while back along with silicon hoses. Most of the jubilee clips (hose clamps) that I got from various sources were pretty useless.
Might be considered overkill but the expensive ones that can be torqued are certainly reliable;

It's a lot less work than sourcing and fitting a new engine!

You'll get it sorted pretty quick for sure I reckon.

Whilst on the subject of hose clips - I got mine from Arran - all stainless steel. They are supplied by ASH (Auto silicone Hose - who I have bought a few things from) . Prices are comparable - and the jub clips fit my tool , uhhhh what I meant to say is that they fit my "Hand tool" for tightening jub clips - it's a hand held socket kinda thing !!!

Genuine stainless steel Jubilee clips are way to go. http://www.jubileeclips.co.uk
