Wow, I was pretty confident that it'd start given I had spark and fuel, but still very exciting!!!

My first attempt is here:

Obviously running on 5 only. Then I tested the injectors, and viola: #2 had no fuel. I found one somewhat working in my pile of parts. (Tested it with wd40 and compressed air. ) Installed that, and then this:

Much better!!!

I need to run it a bit longer to get the new valve train to settle, and then adjust the valve clearance.

Them I'm pretty much done with the engine?!?!?!?!?! Hard to believe after having rebuilt it all by myself.

This fuel is really bad. I need to flush it and get fresh fuel.

The strange thing is that all injectors were incontinent, dripping a little bit.

Even the brand new ones...

Fuel mixture adjustment set rich will cause this. A starting point setting is to adjust until the fuel comes from the injectors then back off until they stop, with the circular fuel flap pressed down by about 2mm.

Great news on the engine starting up, considering knowing that you've done the work yourself too :D

Thanks for the tips regarding leaking injectors.

Today I emptied the fuel tank from the brown fuel that looked and smelled awful. I got some shell 98 octane which is said to be more stable over time. It'll be sitting in the tank until spring.

I also pulled the injectors and threw them in the ultrasonic cleaner with some acetone. I gave all my spare injectors a go as well. I'll test them with the test jars and the new fuel tomorrow. Hopefully they will not leak.

The last little project I completed today was adding some thermal insulation to the wires running close to the header on the right side.

I tested the injectors, post ultrasonic cleaning, and with fresh fuel. All but one are dribbling. Even a brand new one.

Prior to this I tested them with compressed air, and they consistently closed right below 4 bar.

About 5 minutes after shutting off the fuel pump, they stopped.

All this leads me to believe that the fuel pressure might be to high as suggested. Next time I run the engine I'm gonna try to go through a full heat cycle, and need the fans and tachometer to work. I'll leave it for now, and move on to working on the electricals.
