This weekend I finished cleaning the engine oil pan for old gasket material. So this is ready to go back in. But I'm not done scraping off all the old dry gasket material from the engine block. A horrible job, any tips for doing this easier highly appreciated....

I also started installing the pieces inside the fuel tank. I'm gonna finish that later, but at least I have all the parts now.

Put a spring down the pickup pipe before you refit everything back in the tank.

...or it will collapse from the suction of the pump?

In hot weather and/or stop-start traffic, it can collapse, yes. Makes sense to stick a spring down it while you have the tank drained.

Got the fuel pump finally installed. I still need to install and check the wiring. Accumulator is up next.

What's the hose running parallel to the fuel lines doing?

Water drain from the ac. Maybe a good idea to move it so the water does not run on the frame.

The Fuel pump and everything related to it is finally all done. The rubber boot didn't fit really well, maybe I'll try to fit the pump itself deeper if I have to take it apart again.

After the usual struggle I finally got everything installed around the new accumulator. So everything ahead of the filter is ready to go. I need to get an elbow fitting with M14 threads to be able to use the two spare fuel filters in my possession...

I've also finished cleaning the mating surfaces on the oil pan and engine block. That was a monster job! Now I'm in the middle of cleaning the oil baffle. Once that's done I'll refit it, the pump pickup and the pan. Then I can finally fill the engine with oil and check if I get oil pressure.

great stuff - and thanks for the picture of the accumulator - mine has been bypassed and that picture enables me to see the correct "plumbing" !
